Welcome to George Mason High School

Our collective mission is to support our children as they move steadily toward being caringbalanced, and open-mindedthinkers who continually inquire about the individual and collective roles they play in our global community.  We foster an environment where our children are actively learning to serve themselves and others as principledrisk-takers with the responsibility to communicate a bond throughout cultures and generations.  George Mason students work to become knowledgeable and reflective citizens connected to the ever-changing world around them.

Attendance Guidelines

If your child will be absent, tardy, or needs to leave school before the school day ends, you may: send an email to AttendanceGM@fccps.org; leave a message on the 24-hour attendance line, (703) 248-5501; or send a signed note (for tardies and early dismissals only).  Parents/Legal Guardians are the only ones authorized to excuse their child. Students may not excuse themselves. Please read the Attendance FAQ located in the "Counseling" tab above or the Student Handbook located in the "Students" tab above to familiarize yourself with our attendance policy.

Extended Absences (three or more days)
Absences of three or more school days requires a written request turned in at least three days prior to the first day of the absence, and approval by the Principal. The Extended Absence form is available in the Main Office or may be printed out from here. Students and parents/legal guardians should read and follow the instructions, then turn the form in to the Main Office for approval by the Principal.
